Challenging Patriarchy with Poetry in Cha

The second of a surprise Saturday night double bill of my conversations for Cha: An Asian Literary Journal was with poet, Coffee and Conversations editor and Afghan women’s rights advocate Shikha S Lamba. Shikha recently curated a powerful poetry collection to raise the voices of Afghan women in collaboration with The Candyman’s Trumpet. It’s an honour to share stories like Shikha’s and read in the comments how her work has touched the hearts of so many. Shikha credits Afghan-American author Nadia Hashimi (the latest writer to brave The Writer’s Gauntlet) as the origin of her literary inspiration. Thanks to Cha‘s editor-in-chief Tammy Lai-Ming Ho.
