Screenwriter, novelist and comedian Paul Bassett Davies becomes the latest wit to brave my Writer’s Gauntlet. This one made me snort tea through my nose! Which is the superpower one accident and two rhinoplasties in 2026 has given me. (Wondering why I’ve been delaying all my podcast launches? This is it!!) Paul describes himself as writer-in-residence, at his house. Stephen King described Paul’s writing in the Guardian as “Mordantly funny; Poe would have liked it.” His radio plays have starred British comedy royalty like Alison Steadman and Bill Nighy. In his spare time, he enjoys welding.
